I have begun speaking with different people here, involved
in counseling and substance abuse programs, about beginning
an AA meeting in Battambang. There are currently meetings
in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. Those meetings are attended
by foreigners. I have a few concerns for this moving forward.
I am an outsider to AA and am uncertain as to how effective
I can be in helping to begin a meeting here. I wonder
if it may be biting off more than I can chew. Secondly,
I would hope that if this takes off it may lead to a program
for Cambodians. This would take a significant amount of
work, but may be a little way off right now. The way I
see it right now I am exploring this idea and seeing where
that exploration goes. If God desires this to come about
I am asking that God really guide me because I don't think
I'll be able to do much by myself.
I have participated in some AA and NA meetings and have
marveled at the beauty of the groups. I have been humbled
by people's strength and lives.
Personal Update
I suppose that I am doing well. God is present in my thoughts
and interactions. I'm very thankful for some of the relationships
that seem to be beginning. I really enjoy my time with
the Colfaxes and am thankful for who they are.
Praises
o Relational connections with some Cambodians.
o Continued support and encouragement from friends and
family back home.

Prayer Requests
o Greater strength of relationships with other missionaries
and people in the local church. I'm seeking to discover more
of what it means to be a family with other Christians.
o Direction in how to best serve here.
o Continued learning. There is so much to gather.
About Micah
Micah Hillis grew up in the beautiful Northwest where he enjoyed
hiking, climbing, running, and playing his cello. After studying
sociology at Azusa Pacific University, he has been eager to
follow God into another country where he can learn from other
lifestyles and understandings. He finds great value in being
with those who have experienced life differently.
Micah is living in Battambang and is excited to work with
the Colfax family; supporting their needs so that they can focus
more attention in areas they are sensing God is leading them.
He feels thankful and blessed to have the privilege to live
and serve in Cambodia. Please be praying for Micah as he seeks
to discern God’s specific call on his life and as he commits
this next year to the church in Cambodia.
In His Own Words
For the last few years I have felt a pull to travel and serve
in another country. For a variety of reasons, the time had not
been right. As much as I want to believe that the time is always
right for that sort of thing, I believed God for when would
be appropriate.
A few months ago I heard about an opportunity to serve with
the Colfax family through the Friends Church in Cambodia. I
began to pray and look into it more seriously.
I am in Cambodia to help tutor the Colfax kids with their homeschooling.
Although this is my primary role, I am also involved in language
learning and other aspects of the ministry there.
Cambodia is a country that continues to suffer from a history
of violence, genocide, corruption, and sin’s abuse. Praise
God that we have hope in Him. I am enjoying the opportunity
to meet the people in Cambodia and becoming familiar with their
way of life. I look forward to experiencing firsthand how God
is moving here. I also look forward to how God will shape me
during this time. I have given my life to Him and believe this
is where my pursuit of deeper relationship and service to Him
is taking me next.
If you would also like to help support me financially it would
be appreciated.
